Creative Assembly has confirmed that Total War: Rome II for PC will not require constant Internet connection, although restricted to the use of the digital distribution platform from Valve, Steam.

Despite this announcement, since the study warn that this is a move that could change in the future. "I would not say never, but certainly not something that we plan to do with Rome II," says one of the company's creative, James Russell.

The main reason for this, of course, is piracy. "I always hate to see that your game is pirated. Certainly suffer that, so we have taken some measures to avoid that." Even so, he continues, "we do not take draconian measures that enraged our core players."

Fortunately, Russell continues, the market for PC games is experiencing a "renaissance", thanks in part to social titles born by the hand of companies like Zynga. "We are at a point where we have to 100 million characters playing what is essentially a PC strategy game every day," said alluding to FarmVille, CityVille and derivatives.

After reaping a big hit with the last chapter of his saga strategic, Total War: Rome II will be released in the market throughout the year.
